The Board’s attention has been drawn to reports that ETrs are being directed to
pay subscription fees to the ETrs Council or they face deregistration.
The Board wishes to clarify to members of the public, ETrs and other
stakeholders that ONLY the ETrs CO-ORDINATION BOARD has the
power to suspend or deregister any registered ETrs for violating the law.
The Board has NOT made any resolution in the recent past to
deregister any NGO.
The Board wishes to inform all ETrs that membership to the ETrs Council is
voluntary.
The Constitution of Kenya provides for the right to Freedom of Association which
includes the right to form, join or participate in the activities of an
association of any kind.
